Sail into A New Adventure with ‘One Piece Film: Red’

The evergreen anime, One Piece is finally celebrating its 25th anniversary this year! Moreover, One Piece has officially announced to release the 15th film ‘One Piece Film: Red’ in 2022 after three years since the last film was released. Eiichiro Oda has created an original plot for the film, so we can’t help but wonder what exciting adventures of Luffy and his team Nami, Zoro, Usopp, Sanji, Chopper, Robin, Franky, Brook and Jimbei will unfold this time around.

Yes, according to the author’s message, this is what ‘One Piece Film: Red’ was originally created for. Finally, we are getting a new female character again except Nami. A few key messages can be seen on the teaser poster – girl, melody, wings. This shows that the film will probably include a new female character from Skypiea (Sky Region)! Both Skypiea and the ability of melody are less explored in the One Piece series, meaning that the audiences would dig in more and more surprises in this film.

The new character – Uta, the world’s greatest diva of all time has driven everyone crazy with her beautiful voice. With Ado, the young and talented J-pop singer playing her singing voice actor, Uta is sure to turn the cinema into a concert. Another shocking identity of Uta – Shanks’ daughter – is revealed in the trailer, adding a mysterious image to her.Well, the past between Luffy, Shanks, and Uta surely be one of the highlights of the movie.

In fact, it is not hard to guess from the name that ‘One Piece Film: Red’ is a story with the ‘Red-Haired’Shanks as the main axis. Where Shanks serves as Luffy’s initiator, however, the manga rarely depicted on the story and power of this strongest pirates in One Piece. He is full of secrets. Hence, the film is definitely worth waiting for the unreveal story of Shanks. This is also the first time Oda has created a completely different story style by focusing on a character other than Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates.

The production team for this movie is even more lavish. The film’s director, Goro Taniguchi, has directed such hit anime series as ‘Code Geass (2006)’ and ‘Code Geass R2 (2008)’. The screenplay was written by Tsutomu Kuroiwa, the writer of the famous anime ‘Black Butler (2014)’. This is also his second film after ‘One Piece Film: Gold’. With such a strong cast, it is rests assured to be a great success.

Fun Fact: Goro Taniguchi has directed the first-ever One Piece anime OVA ‘One Piece – Defeat Him! The Pirate Ganzack (1998)‘. In other words, he was the first person to make Luffy into an anime!
