Latest Movie Wira Wah Depicts Another Kind Of Hero
Amidst the superhero blockbuster phenomenon and its flood of sequels, your local film distribution company GSC Movies is proud to add a Malaysian production depicting a brand new kind of hero to its list of latest movies, just in time for the school term break. Befitting the school holiday season, the latest movie will have a primary school setting.
Helming the movie is Hong Kong director Lee Lik-Chi who blessed us with some of our favourite Stephen Chow classics (Flirting Scholar, Gods of Cookery, Shaolin Soccer, etc), and this time he will be directing an ensemble cast led by Malaysian celebrity Auguste Kwan. With a solid supporting cast which includes Dato Lai Meng, Crystal Lee, Alvin Wong, Michael Tong, Cathryn Lee and Mimi Chu, this movie is bound for hard laughs but behind the comedy, lies a stronger message illustrating a major concern faced by Chinese schools all over Malaysia.
Wira Wah is an educational comedy drama which centres on a Chinese primary school teacher played by Augeste Kwan, who was offered a position to teach the Chinese language in a small town primary schoolwith only eight students. Unfortunately during the beginning of his tenant, he finds out that the school is ordered to be shut down due to the low enrolment of students. As a believer of Chinese education, Wira Wah goes around town seeking to recruit more students in order to save the school and the Chinese education system. He cajoles and implores the town folks both Chinese and non-Chinese to send their children to the endangered institution Wah Wah Chinese Primary School.
Featuring a diverse cast and a fresh plot that hits close to home, Wira Wah is looking to set the tone for Chinese movies in the Malaysian film industry. Now showing in cinemas!
