Latest Live-Action Anime Movie Adaptation

Great stories live to be adapted, especially in Japan where a book can become manga, which become an anime movie, turned into live-action, or any combo of the above. This week, we have a live-action adapted from what we think is a fairly unorthodox but absolutely charming shōjo anime movie coming to cinemas. My Love Story!! or commonly known as Ore Monogatari tells of the hilarious misadventures of a sixteen-year-old high school student Takeo Gouda, who stands over 200m high and weighs over 250 pounds, in his pursuit of love. With his hulk-like feature, he can’t help but attract double-takes no matter where he goes. In fact, he can’t even help a mother carry her baby stroller up the stairs without her thinking he’s a kidnapper. But behind Takeo’s gigantic stature lies a young man with a heart of gold who is willing to help anyone in need and is canonized by the boys. The opposite sex however are blind to these traits and if that isn’t bad enough, they are all enamoured by Takeo’s cool and good-looking best friend Makoto Sunakawa including every girl Takeo has ever liked.

One day, Takeo gallantly saves the a cute school girl Rinko Yamato from a molester and immediately falls for her even though he suspects that customarily she’ll be interested in Sunakawa as well. While his feelings for Yamato continues to blossom, he selflessly acts as her cupid even as he yearns for his own love story.

Live-action anime movie adaptation My Love Story!! brings the characters to life and you are bound to laugh at Takeo’s awkward and outrageous reactions, cheer at his heroics, and spur on his love story. Available at selected Golden Screen Cinemas, My Love Story!! will open this 25^th February!
